Rock Island – State Senator Mike Halpin has secured grant funding for industrial support projects in Western Illinois totaling $7.2 million
“We are working hard to secure key supports for industry and labor here in Western Illinois,” said Halpin (D-Rock Island). “Infrastructure investments provide more economic activity in our region, more jobs and ultimately, more money in workers’ pockets. We are laying the groundwork to propel Western Illinois’ economy forward, and I am proud to see state dollars going to good use.”
The Regional Site Readiness Program aims to better prepare sites for industrial development across the state through more flexible funding to support the construction and infrastructure improvements necessary for future development. A total of $35 million was awarded to 22 sites across the state. The program includes two competitive funding opportunities: planning grants to support due diligence activities, studies and site plans, and Capital Ready grants to support capital infrastructure improvements.
- The City of Rock Island is receiving $120,000 for environmental studies and site concept plans at a 53-acre industrial site.
- The City of East Moline is receiving $5,000,000 for sewer infrastructure expansion to service a 50-acre industrial site.
- The Galesburg Sanitary District is receiving $1,900,000 for sewer infrastructure to serve a 90-acre industrial site.
